Join Our Next Family Science Discussion Club: Seeing Sound
Families are warmly invited to the next Hearsall Family Science Discussion Club, an exciting event designed to spark curiosity and bring science to life for learners of all ages. The session is free to attend and open to everyone.
Event details
Topic: Seeing Sound
Speaker: Prof Rachel Edwards, University of Warwick
Date: Monday 23 March
Time: 5pm to 6pm
Location: Hearsall Community Academy Primary School, Coventry
What is the talk about?
Sometimes scientists need to see inside things that are not transparent. This could include looking at babies before they are born or detecting cracks inside railway tracks. If something is not see through, how do we explore what is happening inside?
In this fascinating session, Professor Rachel Edwards will introduce the science of using sound waves to see. Many people are familiar with ultrasound imaging in medicine, but similar technologies are also used in a wide range of industrial applications.
The talk will also explore an intriguing idea. If sound can help us see, could we turn the idea around and use sight to hear? Through engaging explanations and real world examples, the session will showcase some of the innovative ways scientists are using sound to investigate the world around us.
The Hearsall Family Science Discussion Club aims to make science accessible, engaging and enjoyable for the whole community. Whether you are a budding scientist, a curious learner or simply interested in discovering something new, this event promises to inspire.
